Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a national program designed for schools to increase the awareness and support for students walking to and from school on safe routes. Operating in all 50 states, students who benefit from Safe Routes to School programming live in urban, rural and suburban communities representing varying income levels and a range of walking a bicycling conditions.

This Safe Routes to School Program is a compilation of national and local information as well as recent resources in the hope of creating a strong program for the City of Keene while sharing that work with other schools interested in implementing their own programming with relative ease.

The preparation of this document was made possible, in part, through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School program.
